Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is celebrating World Habitat Day by breaking ground on the 2017 Brighton project. This house is the final project Habitat has planned for 2017 and, when completed, will be the fifth local Habitat family to achieve the dream of homeownership in 2017.

This project is not a traditional Habitat build.

In July of this year, Habitat Northumberland received the donation of a house from a local Brighton couple. That house was relocated onto a building lot which was donated by the Municipality of Brighton.

Habitat Northumberland will spend this fall combining these two generous donations.

Habitat will bring together local volunteers and contractors to work alongside the future homeowners to build a foundation, place this existing house onto the foundation, spruce up the house, and convert it into an affordable home.

At the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Habitat Northumberland will recognize the donors of the house, thank the partners that have already stepped up to make this project happen, introduce the future homeowners to the community, and officially turn the sod to kick-off this exciting project.
